Took my wife and kids for 3 days plus a day at universal. I’ve never been before and it’s meh at best. Hotel is alright. Food is ok, but so much greasy food hurts. Even my kids getting stomach aches from all this shit we’re eating.

Rides are rides. Not a fan, don’t get standing in line as an adult for 2 hours for a 5 min ride. Even the adult ones are ok, but that’s it

Also, Fat ppl everywhere on scooters. Think wall-e the movie was based on Disney patrons. Ton of foreigners here probably aghast at how fat everyone is.

Hate how much I spent on this. Makes me go nuclear every moment one of the kids complains because they have to have fun or I’ve wasted $9k.

Maybe a day is worth it but not 5

You shouldn't be standing in line that much - you have to get the Lightning Lane or wahtever and stay on top of it.

I think parts of Disney are still magical, but it is just way too commercial at this point. There's way too many people at the park. It just feels overly crowded at all times.

You used to be able to just show up and watch the fireworks - it was just an extra. Now there's people legitimately camping out 2 hours ahead of time - for fucking fireworks.

WTF is going on with this rambling thread?

You title it "Disney" but then say you went to Universal.

It's ostensibly about Disney "Adults" but it's really about your bitch ungrateful kids and how much money you spent.

Also, LOL @ spending 9k on three days and not paying an extra $100 on fast pass to negate the line issues. No wonder ur kids were pissed, they waited in line for 2 hours per ride.

Yeah my biggest tip for Disney is that you really need to plan.

If you plan it out and pay for Lighting Lane you can do probably 15-20 rides a day and have a good time.

If you don't plan it out, you might only get on 3 rides.

It's not an ideal vacation IMO that you now have to monitor your phone and keep your party on schedule like a drill instructor - but it's the difference between a great day and a day when you do nothing but stand in line for shit rides.

Yeah honestly, it sounds like either option is shit. the fun of vacation is doing whatever you want. but it is so regimented now.

I went to Shanghai Disneyland this year, it was 180. Lots of cute Chinese girls walking around in cosplay outfits. You can take the subway from the city right to the park, no parking, no hotel needed. No niggaz or fat people. It was better in every way. Tommy T is right.

The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was hilarious, Johnny Depp robot singing songs in Chinese.

I’m in Arizona on a Passover thing with 500 frum yids. It’s a 5 star resort, everything is fully catered, the kids get locked in religious day camp events while the adults chill and go to shul and try to marry off their marriageable kids off to one another. I love these pesach vacation group things. We waste ungodly money doing this every year with the extended family. I gain like a pound a day here because the food is nuts. The Seders were great and we sang all the songs. I went a little nuts doing die-die-dayenu like 100 times while all the people sitting next to us thought I went insane. Great memories.

Are Reptile is Russian enough to not do this shit and just say no to all of it. He could just live a nice life in Boca, get a boat, play with his Warhammer 40k figurines, whatever. Instead he is doing this total nonsense and I'm sure that deep down inside he knows how fucking stupid it is.

We live fairly close to Disney World so it seems like we'll spend a few days there at some point. But I'm not putting it on the calendar several years out and counting down because omgomgomgmog DISNEYWORLD like some weirdos do.

Also, for how much it costs I suspect that a swim with the dolphins experience or something like that would be more memorable.

Went to Disneyland Paris in 1995 or 1996. One of the five best days of my life. Don't know if its still the case, but the French hated Disney so the park was empty. We rode Space Mountain back-to-back without getting out of our seats because there was no line at all, they just let us go again. The park was brand new so everything worked and I remember noticing there were speakers everywhere so there was music playing in literally every corner of the park.

I can't stand all the money grabs aimed at kids. Not limited to Disney. Stuff like $30 light up wands sold everywhere, have to pass by arcades to get anywhere, sugary themed treats sold everywhere. I'm not a miser and will spend on some of this stuff. My kids are also very well trained not to ask for too much and not to ask again if I say no. But I resent having a property constantly dangle shiny extras in front of their faces to put me in the position of having to say no or agreeing to spoil them. For the amount you spend, you want your kids to feel like everything is magical and that they got everything they wanted, but these tactics aim to make kids feel deprived and wanting more. It just ruins the vibe, makes kids act spoiled, sows conflict and feels so dirty and manipulative.

Is this supposed to be about Disney generally or adults who go?

Disney is a terrible once-in-a-lifetime vacation for middle class families but fun if you’re rich and can go every year or two. Cruises are better though.

The childless adults are weird as fuck. Sadly Disney is catering more and more to them since they have money to spend.

Like I said, Disney is only fun if you go often enough that you don’t feel compelled to do everything while you’re there. Otherwise you spend the day dashing between attractions while glued to your phone to maximize use of the fastpass system. I enjoy it but families that decide never to take their kids probably have the right idea.

I think the appeal of Disney is it minimizes the bad elements of visiting America. Place is kept clean, there is some security screens before you get in and if you get rowdy, they get you out of the way. No homeless anywhere.

Here’s a **detailed cost breakdown** for a **family of four** (2 adults + 2 children, ages 6 & 9) visiting **Disneyland Paris**, **Walt Disney World (Orlando)**, and **Shanghai Disneyland** for **5 days / 4 nights** (including flights, tickets, hotels, food, and extras).

---

### **1. Disneyland Paris (France) – Estimated Cost**

**Assumptions**:

- Flying from **New York** (round-trip).

- Staying in a **mid-range off-site hotel**.

- Visiting for **3 park days** (2-day ticket + 1 extra day).

| Expense | Cost (USD) | Notes |

|------------------------|------------|-------|

| **Flights (4x)** | $2,400–$3,600 | Round-trip from NYC to Paris (varies by season) |

| **Visa (if needed)** | $0–$200 | Schengen Visa not required for U.S. citizens (short stays) |

| **3-Day Park Tickets (4x)** | $1,000–$1,400 | ~$85–$120 per person per day (child discount) |

| **Hotel (4 nights)** | $500–$800 | Off-site 3-star hotel (e.g., Ibis, ~$125–$200/night) |

| **Food (4 days)** | $600–$800 | ~$40–$50 per person per day (Disney + outside meals) |

| **Souvenirs/Extras** | $200–$400 | Mickey ears, toys, etc. |

| **Total Estimated Cost** | **$4,700–$7,200** | |

---

### **2. Walt Disney World (Orlando) – Estimated Cost**

**Assumptions**:

- Flying from **New York** (round-trip).

- Staying in a **budget off-site hotel**.

- Visiting for **4 park days** (1 park per day).

| Expense | Cost (USD) | Notes |

|------------------------|------------|-------|

| **Flights (4x)** | $1,200–$2,000 | Round-trip NYC to Orlando (cheaper if domestic) |

| **Visa (if needed)** | $0 | No visa required for U.S. citizens |

| **4-Day Park Tickets (4x)** | $1,800–$2,400 | ~$100–$150 per person per day (child discount) |

| **Food (4 days)** | $800–$1,200 | ~$50–$75 per person per day (Disney prices are high) |

| **Souvenirs/Extras** | $300–$500 | Genie+ ($20–$30/day/person), merch |

| **Total Estimated Cost** | **$4,700–$7,100** | |

---

### **3. Shanghai Disneyland (China) – Estimated Cost**

**Assumptions**:

- Flying from **New York** (round-trip).

- Staying in a **budget off-site hotel**.

- Visiting for **2 park days** (since it’s a single park).

| Expense | Cost (USD) | Notes |

|------------------------|------------|-------|

| **Flights (4x)** | $4,000–$6,000 | Round-trip NYC to Shanghai (long-haul) |

| **China Visa (4x)** | $560–$800 | ~$140–$200 per person |

| **2-Day Park Tickets (4x)** | $600–$800 | ~$75–$100 per person per day (child discount) |

| **Hotel (4 nights)** | $400–$600 | Off-site 3-star (~$100–$150/night) |

| **Food (4 days)** | $400–$600 | ~$10–$15 per meal (much cheaper than U.S./Europe) |

| **Souvenirs/Extras** | $200–$300 | Cheaper merch than U.S. parks |

| **Total Estimated Cost** | **$6,160–$9,100** | |

---

### **Final Comparison: Which is Cheapest?**

| **Destination** | Total Cost (Family of 4) | Best For |

|-----------------------|--------------------------|----------|

| **Disneyland Paris** | **$4,700–$7,200** | Europeans, shorter flights from U.S. than Asia |

| **Orlando (WDW)** | **$4,700–$7,100** | U.S. families (no visa, cheaper flights) |

| **Shanghai Disneyland** | **$6,160–$9,100** | Budget-friendly if already in Asia |

### **Best Value Winner?**

βœ… **For U.S. families** → **Orlando** (cheaper flights, no visa, but high park/food costs).

βœ… **For international travelers** → **Shanghai** (if flights/visa aren’t a hurdle, cheapest food & hotels).

βœ… **For Europeans or short trips** → **Paris** (good balance of cost and experience).

### **Money-Saving Tips**

- **Orlando**: Stay off-site, pack snacks, visit during off-peak times (Jan–Feb).

- **Paris**: Book tickets in advance, stay near RER trains (not Disney hotels).

- **Shanghai**: Visit on weekdays, eat outside the park.

Would you like help finding deals on flights/hotels for a specific trip? 😊

Try to get an invite to “Bare Necessities,” the Disney-themed strip club that’s like 1000x more exclusive than Club 33. Members typically have net worth >$100M.

Back at Disney again for spring break. Staying at the port orleans resort this time. About $6k in including meal plan for arriving today and leaving sat. Had a rest day on Wednesday that went by the wayside because it’s supposed to pour all day tomorrow. I won’t bore you w details but the lightening lanes won’t transfer to new days because there’s supposedly no slots available to use them

On the new days we’re going due to the rain tomorrow. Only problem is the lightening lane passes are non refundable. Also, I got the meal plan that gives you 2 quick service meals a day instead of one quick service and one sit down meal. Whoops. Can’t pay more to get the sit down option bc Disney said so. Now I have to eat fast food all week. My stomach already hurts after one meal lol. God help me

This literally sounds like you're describing some kind of serious criminal sanction like a labor camp or penal colony sentence or something. You PAID money to experience this "vacation"? Does your family hate and resent you for putting them through this ordeal?

Disney World with kids is 180. Are you having fun? Are your kids?

The lightning lanes are great, but they do take some planning and it's frustrating that they sell out during popular times of year. FWIW, last time I was there over a busy long weekend, lines really died down after about 9, and my oldest and I rode a ton of stuff with pretty much no lines.

What did you get lightning lanes for?

Meal plan is flame and not worth it to try to save, at most, a few bucks. Occasional quick service meals and snacks plus grocery delivery of pb&j, fruit, cereal, pretty much whatever you want is cr.

It is 180 w kids and had a blast today.

The 3 part fast pass kind of sucked at animal kingdom so we rushed early opening to ride the flight of the passage ride, which still took 45 min in line. Fast pass was safari, finding Nemo (unnecessary but only option), and Mount Everest roller coaster. Did pretty much everything we wanted at animal kingdom except for the river ride ride (not rapids).

Going Hollywood studios tomorrow. Those rides we’ve done before -Star tours, millennium falcon, Indiana jones (unnecessary again, but only option). I paid for rise of the resistance fast pass too, which we haven’t done before.

Saw less fat ppl at animal kingdom today. Think looking at obese land animals may not interest them

Go to theme parks in foreign countries. Its a better experience and the airfare would otherwise be the cost of all the extra shit the Disney experience in Florida will charge you.

I think Disney is in a tough spot because the parks are too full but also the prices are too high.

Obviously they're banking cash but I think they're aware they're selling nostalgia more than a good experience at this point.

Are adults twenty years from now going to have fond memories as a kid waiting for 200 minutes watching people richer than them cut them in line? Or waiting 40 minutes to sit for a parade and get stuck behind brown men crying to see Donald duck?
