BENTONVILLE, Ark. — 130 soldiers from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade were sent off Monday morning in Bentonville as fighting tied to the Iran conflict continues overseas, and President Donald Trump is prepared to speak at 12 p.m. following the rescue of an airman.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the message Monday as Arkansas National Guard soldiers prepared to deploy to Southwest Asia, telling the unit they are heading into “one of the most volatile regions in the entire world” and tying their mission to the rapidly escalating conflict involving Iran. |

According to an Arkansas National Guard press advisory, about 130 Guardsmen from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade are deploying in support of Operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve. The advisory says the soldiers will first report to Fort Bliss, Texas, for mobilization processing before continuing to their overseas location, and are expected to be deployed for about nine months.
Speaking at the sendoff ceremony in Bentonville, Sanders called it a “long-planned deployment,” but said, “the events of the past month have raised the stakes significantly for the region and for the world.”
The Governor also told the soldiers that “the whole state is thankful for your service,” and “we will be praying daily for your safety.” |
