Until it turns out that we are probably sitting in the middle of a giant void where the light is being "stretched" in ways that aren't being accounted for. At first, these two different measurement techniques had a lot of overlap in their results, but as they've gotten more precise over the years, the difference became too large to explain as just an insignificant statistical blip.
This is important only if you take cosmology seriously, which you shouldn't, because it's a shitty, flimsy, and weak field of "science." |
