This was also the twilight of when America's demographics would legitimately allow for this. |

And the baby boom meant there were more of them. Dole reminded them of their WWII parents who told them pot was bad and blacks should live segregated. Gingrich's success had more to do with geography and regionalism. Boomers literally hated Dole because it reminded them of all the times they got caught doing something bad and were grounded.
