For example, they have anti-ship missiles coming out the wazoo, many of them small and mobile ones that will be very difficult for China to target.
I expect China watched very closely how Ukraine has forced Russian ships to stay far away from the Ukrainian coast with a handful of harpoon missiles.
It would take a LOT of guts for China to place all their chips on an amphibious operation in the face of that kind of opposition and the inherent uncertainties of war. Life is too good in China right now for them to risk it on something like that. |
