If we had gotten into this during the initial auction, I imagine we could have set up shop near the University with a xoxo fraternity house, or an artist warehouse by the Anarchist International. |

MANA is then exchanged at https://market.decentraland.org for LAND.

Longer answer: In the longer term, we need to note the difference between MANA (the tradable token) and LAND (the digital land lot). MANA is mostly a utility token, and utility tokens should not be held long term. LAND however represents a limited asset that can form the foundation of a valuable social consensus. I think it will appreciate.
Even longer answer: The best way to find out Decentraland's potential would be to do comps with the land value of parcels in Second Life. (How much have Second Life parcels appreciated over time? How many new land parcels are added to the world of Second Life each year? How many All Cash Chinese Buyers bought second life land and when?) |

Plazas also will likely increase the value of nearby parcels, as many players will enter the world in them.
Also, different neighborhoods will likely have different planned feels to the extent that the smaller LANDholders make plots that fit in thematically with the large LAND parcels. Large LAND parcels = being multiple LAND parcels right next to each other, owned by the same entity, and planned to be constructed in accordance with one theme. If you own multiple parcels next to each other, you can build higher buildings on your land as well. |

also you need to develop your LAND yourself (unless your investing in an entity that is acting as your communal agent for the development)
ultimately it comes down to betting on whether Decentraland will have the best virtual neighbors, and whether the parcels are still cheap with respect to its fundamental potential.
Or in terms of the technicals, MANA seems to briefly pump its BTC/MANA ratio once every 2-5 months. |
